Cinematography

This is where I come from. I love cinematography. Playing with angles and light to achieve fresh and thought-provoking results. Coming from a live-action film background, I've worked on over 80 film projects to date, and my main focus always remained cinematography. My bachelor filmmaking studies were the playground where I learned how to craft key images that navigate emotional landscapes and drive stories.

"All Eyes On You"

Director: Felix Maxim Eller

I was responsible for the billiards scene of the movie (watch it on Amazon), where our hero meets a mysterious underground boss. My assistant Simon Federlein and me were responsible for all the camera and lighting work. We created a one-shot gimbal move as a setup for the scene, which you can watch below. Fun fact: The scene was shot at full daylight, but great crew members blocked all the giant windows off with black cloth.

"You Don't Say Retard"

Director: Christoph Krüger

This was the first project where I didn't only function as a DP and operator of the A-Cam, but also managed a second unit camera crew under DP Simon Federlein who shot simultaneously. Since we shot with five kids and a dog, time was very short and we had to be as efficient as possible. We used a Sony Venice and 6 other camera systems by RED and Blackmagic to shoot this film, and it layed the foundation for my bachelor thesis which was about when to use which camera and lens setup in order to move forward as efficient as possible on set.

"Der Nachtfalter"

Directors: Daniel Ernst, Simon Federlein

This moody mystery story accompanies facility manager witnessing a serious case of domestic violence. Drawn to his illegal surveillance screens like moths to the light, he decides to take action himself and put an end to violence by using violence. We shot the film in a studio, and I remember really appreciating how you could have a regular working day when having a controlled environment like that.
